Message from the Candidate

Let’s be honest — it’s not easy deciding who to vote for. Every campaign comes with a wave of promises, slogans, and smiling faces, and after a while, it can all start to sound the same. You don’t often hear someone running on tax hikes or service reductions — which, let’s admit, might make for a pretty short campaign!
For myself, I’ve always wanted to support someone who could steer us down a road to prosperity...someone who respects the value of a hard-earned dollar and leaves as much of it in your pocket as reasonably possible. Running a city isn’t that different from running a household or a business, it’s about making smart decisions, setting clear priorities, and ensuring that every dollar spent provides real value to the people who paid it. We can’t afford to treat residents like an endless source of revenue; we need to focus on sustainability, accountability, and long-term growth.
I waited and waited to see that person step forward. When it didn’t seem like it was going to happen, I decided to be that person.
I’ve always taken a hands-on approach to leadership — building strong teams, identifying what needs to be done, creating a plan, and seeing it through to success. It’s how I work, and it’s how I lead. But as I’ve said before, while the candidate may suggest the route, it’s the people who set the destination. This isn’t a kingdom, and it doesn’t come with a throne — it comes with the responsibility to listen to the community and work toward our common goals.
In formal settings, people are told to refer to the mayor as “Your Worship.” But to me, the mayor should always be your public servant. Titles don’t define respect — actions do. I believe in things like honor and accountability, but those are things you earn through how you serve, not through the title printed on your nameplate.
I choose respect and positivity. Elections shouldn’t be about tearing others down — it should be about building our community up. I’m asking for your support because we share the same goals for Lacombe and because you trust that I’ll put in the work to make them happen.
I’m running to bring that kind of mindset to City Hall — one rooted in practicality, transparency, and respect for the people who make this city what it is.
Thank you for your time,
Reuben Calliou
